Invest Using Rewards
One of the many ways the Charles Schwab Platinum Card differs from competitors is because you have the power to invest your rewards. You have the power to redeem your points and transfer them into your investment account.
For example, let’s say you have 60,000 points. That’s $750. Instead of transferring the cash into your pocket, you can transfer that money to any Charles Schwab investment account and watch that $750 grow even more.
Before you can add the points to your Charles Schwab investment accounts, you must earn your points.
You earn one point for every dollar you spend on eligible purchases. This includes over 500 brands in categories such as shopping, travel, entertainment, and dining.
No Foreign Transaction Fee
A popular way to use the Charles Schwab Platinum Card is when traveling. If you plan on traveling overseas, the card offers no foreign transaction fee.
Depending on the amount you have in Charles Schwab Holdings, you can qualify for statement credits. You can receive a $100 credit if you have at least $250,000 in holdings or a $200 credit if you have $1,000,000 in holdings.
Who Is Eligible?
Surprisingly, the requirements are pretty lenient. You have to be 18 years of age or older, live in the U.S., and have at least one eligible Charles Schwab account.
The eligible accounts include a Schwab IRA (Traditional, Rollover, or Roth) or a Schwab One or Brokerage Account. All accounts have to be in your name.
