Retail credit cards can give you an abundance of extra rewards for your loyalty.
If you’re considering a new credit card, it’s a good idea to know which ones will work best for your shopping needs.
Check out this list of the five best retail credit cards for 2019 so you can get the most out of every single purchase.
1. The Target REDcard
Fans of Target will love the store’s REDcard thanks to an array of awesome features and extras. All cardholders receive an additional five percent discount on purchases made in Target stores and on the Target website.
There’s no annual fee for the Target REDcard and you get an additional 30 days beyond the normal return policy. That means if you don’t like something, you have extra time to return it and get a refund.
Another perk to this retail credit card is that you’ll get free shipping from Target.com whenever you use the card. It’s a great way to save money on the purchases you’ll likely already make.
Be aware that this card does have a fairly high rate set at a variable of 25.15% on purchases.
2. The Amazon.com Store Card
If you love shopping at Amazon, this credit card is a great choice. You’ll also get a $10 Amazon gift card once your application is approved that you can apply to any purchase.
On certain purchases, this card offers special financing options. Anything over $149 does not require you to pay any interest as long as you pay for the item in full before the end of six months.
You’ll get 12 months of no interest on any purchases of $599 or more. If the purchases are not paid off by the allotted timeframe, you will have to pay for the interest.
Monthly minimum payments are required no matter what you purchase, and the card has a variable rate of 27.74%, which is better than what you will get on most no credit check loans.
Note that if the total purchase amount isn’t paid off by that time, you’ll have to pay the interest, which will be calculated based on your card’s APR, from the date you made the purchase.
You should also note that minimum monthly payments are required. For Prime members, you can choose between the special no-interest financing or get 5% back as a statement credit.
3. Best Retail Credit Cards: My Best Buy Card
If you’re looking to upgrade your appliances or buy some new electronics, give the Best Buy Credit Card a try. This card offers excellent rates for select purchases eligible for a 48-month reduced credit plan.
When you sign up for the card, you’ll receive an additional 2.5 points in rewards on top of the traditional reward points. These points are eligible on any purchases you make on the first day you use the card.
In order to qualify for these bonus points, you must make the purchase within 14 days of the account opening. And for every 250 points you receive, you’ll get a $5 reward certificate.
There are also financing options available, like a 12-month interest-free term for certain purchases at $399 and up. This applies if you pay the balance in full using monthly payments within 12 months.
This card is a great choice if you want to buy a big-ticket item but prefer not to pay interest on your regular credit card.
4. The Kohl’s Credit Card
One of the best retail credit cards available is the Kohl’s Credit Card, which offers 30 percent off the first purchase you make using the card. You’ll also get a coupon for an additional 15 percent off in the mail.
This retail card also gives you at least 12 special offers each year. These offers are usually in the form of a discount that can range from 15 percent to as high as 30 percent.
If you love to shop, the Kohl’s card is a wise choice, particularly during the holiday season. There is no annual fee with this card and the APR is high at around 25.75%.
However, if you can pay off your purchases quickly, the discounts they provide make this card a great choice. In order to qualify for the card, your credit score must be at least in the fair range.
5. The Costco Anywhere Visa
If you’re a Costco shopper, this Visa offers up to four percent cash back at gas stations. You’ll also receive three percent cash back on travel and dining, two percent back at Costco, and one percent back on everything else you buy.
This card has no annual fee, but keep in mind that you’ll still need to pay extra for a separate Costco membership. The APR is rather high, but if you use it frequently and pay it off, the rewards are rather lucrative.
If you already shop at Costco, using this credit card can turn your everyday purchases into something more. Just be sure to pay it off quickly or you’ll end up paying more than the rewards in interest charges.
You must be a Costco member in order to get this card, and excellent credit is required for approval. If you already use a credit card to make a variety of purchases, this Visa is a terrific option due to the rewards levels.
